GENOME SEQUENCING
The Beginning
  1. The oil palm belongs to the genus Elaeis and comprises two species.
  2. MPOB has collected wild germplasm from Centrak-South America and Africa since 1973 through bilaterial agreements.
  3. Over 100,1000 oil palm germplasm accessions, covering 11 countries in Africa and 7 in South America is available at MPOB.
